Dear Anziano
Mayson Ryan Anderson,
Welcome to the Italy Rome Mission! We are very happy that you will join us soon
in this amazing land noted for its history, art, culture, and scenic
beauty. Best of all, you will find here
wonderful people to love and serve. You
will be preaching the gospel where both Peter and Paul did nearly 2,000 years
ago.
You are coming to Italy at an exciting time. President Monson presided at the
groundbreaking ceremony for the Rome, Italy Temple. The number of people being
baptized is increasing. Rome has two
stakes. There are now ten stakes in Italy, including four in the Italy Rome
Mission. You will play an important part
in helping the work of the Lord continue to move forward in this great
land.
The mission includes the beautiful island
nation of Malta, where the Apostle Paul also walked and taught.
When
you arrive, you will be assigned one of our best missionaries to be your
Trainer. He will be your companion in
the first city you are assigned and will do everything possible to teach you
and help you adjust to your mission.
You
will come to find that missionary work is truly a labor of love. As you serve with hard work, diligence and
obedience, your love for your Father in Heaven, your Savior and your fellowmen
with grow. You will come to understand more fully the wonderful promise
contained in Paul’s epistle to the Romans: “We
know that all things work together for the good of them who love God, to them
who are called according to His purpose.”
As
you continue to prepare for your mission, I encourage you to prayerfully study
the scriptures each day and read Preach My Gospel. If Missionary Preparation classes are
available in your area, I encourage you to attend those classes.
Below
is information that will help us, as well as you, be better prepared for your
arrival. If you have any questions, please feel free to send an email to the
mission office at 2016605@ldschurch.org.
We look
forward with excitement to serving the Lord with you in this great work. Sister
Pickerd and I are praying for you. Before long, we’ll be at the Rome airport
waiting for you with open arms.
Sincerely,
Michael
D. Pickerd
President
